Body By Council Members Liu, Barron, Clarke, Comrie, Davis, Felder, Gerson, Katz, Lopez, Martinez, McMahon, Monserrate, Moskowitz, Nelson, Perkins, Quinn, Recchia, Reyna, Rivera, Sanders, Serrano, Weprin, Jackson, Gennaro and Brewer Whereas, Throughout our nation's history, Asian Pacific Americans have made tremendous contributions to all sectors of our society, including law, government, medicine, science, music, the arts, business and academia; and Whereas, New York City, in particular, has been culturally and socially enriched as a result of the many contributions of its vibrant Asian Pacific American community; and Whereas, The triumphs and unwavering efforts of dedicated individuals have advanced the Asian Pacific American community and the community-at-large, through outstanding advocacy, sterling achievements and an unfaltering dedication to societal well-being; and Whereas, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the Asian Pacific American experience, and a time when we honor past heroes and praise the good work and achievements of those Asian Pacific Americans who have made positive contributions; now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the Council of the City of New York declares the month of May to be Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the City of New York and recognizes the continuing contributions of the Asian Pacific American community to the life of our City, State and Nation.
