Resolution repudiating the remarks of Lenora Fulani and condemning them as racist, bigoted, anti-Semitic and inappropriate to responsible political dialogue and urging all public servants of good conscience to disassociate themselves from any public or political endeavors with which she may be integrally involved.

Whereas, There is no place in a responsible political dialogue for racism, bigotry, anti-Semitism or homophobia; and
Whereas, It is the responsibility of those in government to stand up and repudiate the statements of those who purport to be in positions of responsibility who make such statements; and
Whereas, Lenora Fulani is one of the top leaders of New York State’s Independence Party, a party granted automatic access to the General Election ballot box; and
Whereas, Lenora Fulani stated in 1989 that “Jews had to sell their souls to acquire Israel and are required to do the dirtiest work of capitalism - to function as mass murderers of people of color - in order to keep it;” and
Whereas, In recent weeks Ms. Fulani has effectively reiterated the statement in telling a NY 1 interviewer, “That question in [my] opinion isn’t anti-Semitic. It’s raising issues that I think need to be explored;” and
Whereas, Ms. Fulani’s recent remarks show that she does not understand the wholly bigoted point of view that she espouses; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Council of the city of New York repudiates the remarks of Lenora Fulani and condemns them as racist, bigoted, anti-Semitic and inappropriate to responsible political dialogue and urges all public servants of good conscience to disassociate themselves from any public or political endeavors with which she may be integrally involved.
