A Local Law to amend the New York City Administrative Code to notify customers that current prices must by law be posted on the prescription price list and to require pharmacies to post senior citizen discounts on prescription drugs.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 20-713 of the administrative code of the city of New York, is amended to read as follows:

§20-713  Display of prescription drug prices.  Every pharmacy must conspicuously post, at or adjacent to each counter over which prescription drugs are sold, (a) a list [conspicuously] displaying the current selling price of the drugs designated on [a] the form prescribed for that purpose by the [department.] State Board of Pharmacy, New York State Education Department, and  (b) a separate sign that states, in large type: “State Law requires current prices to be posted on the prescription price list.”  In addition, every pharmacy offering a discount to senior citizens on prescription drug prices shall include on this sign a statement that there is a senior citizen discount on prescription drug prices and the amount or percentage of that discount.

                     §2.                     This local law shall take effect immediately.
