A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York in relation to requiring the department of transportation conduct a study on the feasibility and necessity of implementing traffic control safety devices in the areas immediately surrounding all public and private elementary, intermediate and junior high schools.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding thereto a new section 19-180 to read as follows:
§19-180. Traffic Control Safety Device Study Near Schools. The commissioner shall submit to the council a detailed report on the feasibility and necessity of implementing traffic control safety devices in the area immediately surrounding all public and private elementary and intermediate or junior high schools in the city. Such report shall be completed no later than January 1, 1999 and shall be reviewed and updated as needed every two years thereafter. A new report shall be submitted to the Council within ten days of its completion.
§2. This local law shall take effect immediately.
