A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to mandating the issuance of fire service elevator express keys to emergency medical service personnel when they begin their tour of duty.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 15 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 15-129, to read as follows:

§15-129 Fire service elevator express keys. A fire service elevator express key, also known as a 1520 key, shall be issued to each New York City Fire Department Emergency Service officer, paramedic, and emergency medical technician at the beginning of each such individual’s tour of duty, and each such key shall be returned by the individual to whom it was issued at the end of each such individual’s tour of duty. The commissioner shall promulgate rules establishing standards and procedures to facilitate the implementation of this section.

§2. This local law shall take effect 90 days after its enactment.
