A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring construction site safety coordinators on demolition sites.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

Section 1.  Section 27-167 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows:

§27-167  General requirements.  All applications for demolition or removal permits shall be subject to the requirements of article ten, section 27-156 of article eleven, section 27-167.1 of this article, and section 27-198 and section 27-198.1 of article nineteen of this subchapter.

§2.  Article 14 of subchapter one of chapter one of title 27 is amended by adding a new section to read as follows:

§27-167.1  Demolition site safety.  It shall be unlawful to commence work for which a demolition permit is required unless a construction site safety coordinator is designated and present on the site when such work that requires a demolition permit is conducted.  The department may promulgate such additional rules as necessary for the enforcement of this section.

§3.  This local law shall take effect one hundred eighty days after its enactment, provided however, that the department of buildings may promulgate rules and take all actions necessary to implement this local law on or before the date upon which it shall take effect.
