A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of buildings to maintain a database of outstanding permits.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

Section 1. Article 10 of subchapter 1 of chapter 1 of title 27 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 27-155.1 to read as follows:

§27-155.1  Searchable database. The department shall maintain a computerized citywide database of unexpired permits issued by the department pursuant to any provision of this subchapter. Such database shall be made accessible to the public in every office of the department, and shall include, but not be limited to (1) the name, address, and telephone number of the permit holder; (2) the name, address, and telephone number of the permit holder’s contractor; (3) the address of the property for which the permit was issued; and (4) the expiration date of the permit. Such database shall be designed so that the information may be retrieved by address of the subject property, by name of the permit holder’s prime contractor, and by name of the permit holder.

§2. This local law shall take effect ninety days after it shall become law, except that the commissioner of buildings shall take all actions as are necessary for its implementation prior to such effective date.
