A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the City of New York, in relation to the placement of bus stops.

 

 

Be it in enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                     Section 1.  Subchapter 2 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is hereby amended by adding a new section 19-171 to read as follows:

§19-171.  a.  For purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings: 1. “Blockface” shall mean the area of sidewalk on each side of a street spanning from one intersection to the next.

2. “Intersection” shall have the meaning set forth in section 120 of the vehicle and traffic law.

b.  Except as otherwise required by state or federal law or regulation, no more than seventy feet or twenty-five percent of any blockface, whichever is greater,  shall in the aggregate be officially designated as a bus stop.

                      §2.  This local law shall take effect one hundred and eighty days after its enactment into law.
