A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to conducting a study as to whether Pier 76 in Manhattan can be used as a location for a marine transfer station.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section one. Chapter 1 of title 16 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section16-135 to read as follows:
§ 16-135 Pier 76 Study. a. By April 1 2006, the commissioner shall complete a study as to whether Pier 76 in Manhattan can be used as a location for a marine transfer station. The study should document the potential capacity of the marine transfer station, its specific dimensions and location on Pier 76, its suitability for handling residential and/or commercial solid waste, and any other matters relevant to its use as a marine transfer station.
b. A detailed written report presenting the results of such study shall be submitted to the mayor and the council within thirty days of its completion.
§ 2. This law shall take effect immediately upon its enactment into law.
