A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to mandating that the commissioner of the fire department promulgate rules requiring certain building owners to file a list with the fire department indicating the number of each floor of the building.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. The heading of section 27-4267.3 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by local law10 for the year 1999, is amended to read as follows:
§27-4267.3. Fire safety planning, education, [and ]notices, and floor numbering list.
§2. Section 27-4267.3 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by local law 10 for the year 1999, is amended by adding a new subdivision e to read as follows:
e. The commissioner shall promulgate rules establishing standards, procedures and requirements for the electronic filing of floor numbering lists with the fire department by owners of buildings and spaces classified in occupancy group J-2 as defined in section 27-265 of this code that are one hundred fifty feet or more in height. Such rules shall specify that each building owner of a building with non-sequential or non-standard floor numbering, as the fire department shall define such buildings by rule, must submit a floor numbering list to the fire department that indicates what floor numbers have been assigned to each floor of the building. The rules must also require building owners to electronically file an amended floor numbering list with the fire department, within two business days, in the event the floor number designations are changed.
§3. This local law shall take effect ninety days after its enactment into law.
