A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York in relation to requiring banks to post signs at automated teller machines indicating the total limit on permitted withdrawals, the total limit on withdrawals in a single day, and any charges imposed for the use of the automated teller machine.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter one of title ten of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to add a new section 10-161 to read as follows:
§10-161. a. Signage at automated teller machines. At each of its automated teller machines, a bank shall post a clearly visible sign containing the following information:
(i) the total amount of money that may be withdrawn from the automated teller machine in a single transaction;
(ii) the total amount of money that may be withdrawn from a customer's account using an automated teller machine in a single day; and
(iii) any fees or costs that will be charged to the user for the use of the automated teller machine to conduct a banking transaction.
b. For the purpose of this section, the terms "automated teller machine" and "bank" shall have the same meanings as those terms are defined in section 10-160 of this chapter.
§2. This local law shall take effect ninety days after its enactment.
