Resolution calling upon the Council to ratify the Speaker’s decision to have the Council intervene in proceeding 08-E-0539 before the Public Service Commission as to the rates, changes, rules and regulations of Consolidated Edison Company of New York Inc.

Whereas, The Speaker has intervened in a proceeding before the State Public Service Commission (PSC) concerning a rate filing in case 08-E-0539 by Consolidated Edison (Con Ed); and
Whereas, The State Public Service Commission (PSC) is the body that regulates and approves rates for the electric, gas and other public utilities in the State; and
Whereas, On May 9, 2008 Con Ed filed with the PSC amendments to its electric tariff schedules which would result in changes to its rates, charges, rules and regulations. These proposed amendments would result in an increase of about $654.1 million or 5.8% in annual electric revenues on the basis of forecast data for the 12 months ending in March 31, 2010; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of New York ratifies the Speaker’s decision to have the Council intervene in proceeding 08-E-0539 before the Public Service Commission as to the rates, changes, rules and regulations of Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
