A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to authorizing empire zone equivalent area benefits to businesses that relocate to zone equivalent areas.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Section 22-707 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by local law number 54 for the year 1988, is amended to read as follows:
§ 22-707 Shift of business operations within New York city.
(a) A business enterprise [which] that shifts its operations, or some portion thereof, from an area within New York city not designated as an empire zone to an area within New York city [so] designated as an empire zone pursuant to article 18-B of the general municipal law and this chapter, shall be eligible to [receive benefits as provided in article 18-B] be approved for empire zone certification in accordance with paragraph (iii) of subdivision (a) of section nine hundred fifty-nine of the general municipal law.
(b) A business enterprise that shifts its operations, or some portion thereof, from an area within New York city not designated as an empire zone or a zone equivalent area to an area within New York city designated as a zone equivalent area pursuant to article 18-B of the general municipal law and this chapter, shall be eligible to be approved for zone equivalent area certification in accordance with paragraph (iii) of subdivision (a) of section nine hundred fifty-nine of the general municipal law.
§ 2. This local law shall take effect immediately
