A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the city to assume responsibility for cleaning sidewalks that abut certain retaining walls.
 
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
     Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 16 of the administrative code of the city of New York is hereby amended by adding a new section 16-123.1 to read as follows:
§16-123.1 Sidewalk cleaning near retaining walls. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the department shall have the responsibility for cleaning all sidewalks that abut a  retaining wall where such retaining wall is at least ten feet in height and three hundred fifty feet in length. Such cleaning shall include the removal of snow, ice, litter and vegetation growth.
      §2. This local law shall take effect immediately upon its enactment.
