A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to demarcations at mid-block pedestrian ramps on curbs.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Subchapter 1 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding new section 19-112.1 to read as follows:
§19-112.1 Mid-block ramps on curbs a. Ramps on curbs intended for the use of pedestrians located in the middle of a block shall be clearly marked in a conspicuous and consistent color that is visible to pedestrians, motorists, and persons operating other modes of transportation.
b. Upon the construction of any mid-block ramp on a curb, the department or its contractors shall immediately mark such ramp as required under subdivision a of this section.
c. All existing mid-block ramps on curbs shall be marked, as required under subdivision a of this section, within ninety days after the enactment of this law.
d. Upon notice to the commissioner that a mid-block ramp on a curb needs to be re-marked, the commissioner shall make a determination within three days of such notice and if he or she makes a determination that such ramp needs to be re-marked, such re-marking shall be performed within five days of such determination.
§2. This local law shall take effect thirty days after it is enacted into law.
