A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of parks and recreation to replace trees within 18 months

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Section 18-107 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new subdivision g to read as follows:

g. No later than eighteen months after any tree within the jurisdiction of the commissioner falls or is removed by the department due to disease, pest infestation, accidental or weather-related damage, or death, the department shall plant a replacement tree at the same location, unless the commissioner determines that the location is not suitable for tree planting.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
