A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to allowing occupants of class "A" multiple dwellings to provide smoke detectors for installation by the landlord.
 
 
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
 
         Section one.  Article 11 of title 27 of chapter 2 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended as follows:
         §27-2045       a. (1) provide and install one or more approved and operational smoke detecting devices in each dwelling unit; however, any occupant who so desires may provide one or more approved devices for installation by the landlord.  Such devices shall be installed in accordance with Reference Standard 17.12.
         §2.       This local law shall take effect 60 days after its enactment.
