A lifelong Staten Islander, Council Member Morano brings a deep commitment to public service, civic engagement, and community advocacy to City Hall. Before his election to the City Council, Morano built a distinguished career in broadcasting and public affairs. Since 2020, he has hosted the nationally syndicated talk radio program The Other Side of Midnight on 77WABC. For nearly two decades, he has been a familiar voice to New Yorkers, working as a producer and host alongside prominent figures such as Curtis Sliwa, John Gambling, Joe Piscopo, and Ron Kuby. He has also served as Managing Editor and co-host of Liquid Lunch on Newsmax TV. In addition to his media work, Morano served for two years on the staff of Council Member Joe Borelli, gaining firsthand experience in legislative affairs and constituent services. He has also been an active member of Staten Island’s Community Board 3 since 2013, where he played a leadership role in restoring in-person public meetings and advancing neighborhood priorities. His appointments by multiple Borough Presidents reflect a longstanding, bipartisan dedication to local service. Council Member Morano is a passionate advocate for government transparency, charter reform, and electoral integrity. He has testified before every New York City Charter Revision Commission since 2002 and played a key role in various local and state political initiatives, including managing Council Member Vincent Ignizio’s 2013 re-election campaign. Outside of government, Morano has been active in philanthropic efforts, particularly those supporting veterans, children’s health, and public awareness of psoriasis. His volunteer work has benefited organizations such as the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the National Psoriasis Foundation, where he has served as an ambassador. A proud alumnus of New York City public schools, Council Member Morano attended P.S. 53 in Bay Terrace, Totten Intermediate School and Tottenville High School. He earned a BA from New York University. He currently resides in Eltingville with his wife, Rachel, and their son, Carmine. As a parent and lifelong New Yorker, he remains focused on delivering results for South Shore residents and ensuring a safer, more responsive, and more livable city for all.
