District 36 - Council Member - Democrat - Bedford Stuyvesant, Northern Crown Heights - Chi Ossé is the Council Member for New York City’s 36th District representing Bedford-Stuyvesant and North Crown Heights. He is a community organizer and prominent figure in the Black Lives Matter movement. At 23 years old, Chi was elected in 2021 as the youngest member of this Council and the first Gen-Z elected of New York City. Ossé was called to politics for its potential to combine the institutional power of government with the tidal strength of movements to enact policy and heal our culture. Ossé’s office will work to provide transparent and responsive aid to the people of the 36th New York City Council District while utilizing and innovating the powers of municipal government. Chi is committed to meeting the needs of our community; including, improving neighborhood sanitation, reimaging public safety, advocating for safe & secure housing, promoting local economic development, and advancing education equity. A third-generation Brooklynite, Chi is the son of Akim Vann, a local small-business owner, and the late-Reggie Ossé, professionally known as Combat Jack, a hip hop music attorney. He resides in North Crown Heights.
