Introduction This bill would prohibit food service establishments that serve beverages in single-use containers from refusing the request of a customer who asks for a beverage to be served in a reusable beverage container provided by the customer instead of the establishment’s single-use container, provided that the beverage container is capable and appropriate for serving such beverage. In addition, this bill would require such food service establishments to have signs informing customers that they may request service of beverages in their own reusable containers.     Action details Not available Int 1669-2019 * I. Daneek Miller     Requiring that balloons made with electrically conductive material and filled with gas lighter than air be weighted and include warning labels. Introduction This bill would require that any retailer that sells balloons constructed using metallic materials to attach a label to each balloon with a warning about the dangers of metallic balloons colliding with power lines and the retailer’s identifying information. Retailers would also be required to attach weights to any balloon filled with gas lighter than air. Any retailer that violates this law would be subject to a civil penalty of at least $100 for each balloon sold or offered for sale in violation, with a maximum total daily penalty of $2,000.     Action details Not available Int 1775-2019 * James G. Van Bramer     Restricting eating utensils and extra eating containers, and clarifying the definition of third-party courier service. Introduction This bill would prohibit food service establishments, couriers who deliver food, and food delivery platforms from providing eating utensils, extra eating containers, condiment packets and napkins to customers for take-out and delivery orders unless the customer requests them. Delivery platforms would have to provide a means for a customer to request the items, but the bill would require that the default option is that the customer does not request such items. Food service establishments, couriers and delivery platforms who violate this bill would be subject to civil penalties, however the bill would require that warnings, instead of a monetary penalty, be given for any violation occurring before July 1, 2023.     Action details Not available
