No. 949-AEstablishment of a trade-in program for powered mobility devices and lithium-ion batteries used in powered mobility devices, and to provide for the repeal of such local law upon the expiration thereof.IntroductionThis bill would require an office or agency designated by the Mayor to establish a program whereby individuals can receive new powered mobility devices or lithium-ion batteries for use in such devices that meet relevant fire safety standards. Such devices and batteries would be provided at reduced cost or no cost and would be available in exchange for the surrender of devices that do not comply with relevant fire safety standards, or are otherwise illegal; or used lithium-ion batteries.
