Stevens  Expansion of the youth employment program and establish public-private partnerships for youth employment.IntroductionThis bill would require the Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to work with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) to coordinate a summer youth employment program (SYEP). SBS would set aside a number of opportunities employment opportunities for participants in the program. SBS would also develop and administer a year-long mentorship program for SYEP participants and plan to increase employment at government agencies, community based organizations and local private businesses. The bill would require DYCD to coordinate a summer youth agency employment program.
