No. 31-A | Expanding the categories of establishments that may be subject to requirements regarding the disposal of commercial organic waste, and to repeal subdivision h of section 16-306.1 of such code. | Introduction | This bill would expand the categories of establishments that can be designated by the Department of Sanitation (“DSNY”) to be subject to requirements regarding separation and disposal of organic waste, and would require DSNY to designate additional covered establishments by December 1, 2026. Any establishment so designated would be required to comply with such requirements on the latter of June 1, 2027 or when the establishment’s commercial waste zone goes into effect. The bill would also require commercial waste zone awardee-carters to provide information on the donation of excess edible food to any establishment receiving organic waste collection. | | |
