A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York in relation to requiring the filing of a rodent abatement plan prior to excavating public streets or sidewalks.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                     Section 1. Subchapter 1 of chapter 1 of title 19 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-154 to read as follows:

                     §19-154 Rodent abatement plan. a. For the purposes of this section a “rodent abatement plan” shall mean a plan which details how rodents shall be exterminated in the event that an infestation occurs during the course of an excavation of public streets or sidewalks.

b. No permit to excavate a public street or sidewalk shall be issued unless the applicant for such a permit submits a rodent abatement plan to the department and the department approves of such plan.

§ 2.  This local law shall take effect ninety days after its enactment, provided, that the department of transportation shall take any necessary actions to implement this law, including the promulgation of rules, prior to such effective date.
