A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to mandating that the commissioner of the fire department promulgate rules requiring certain building owners to place photoluminescent apartment numbers on apartment doors.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. The fire code of the city of New York is amended to add a new section 408.9.5 to read as follows:

408.9.5 Photoluminescent fire resistant decals. The commissioner shall promulgate rules establishing standards and requirements for photoluminescent, fire resistant decals to be placed in the lower quadrant of apartment doors by owners of buildings and spaces classified in Group R-2 occupancies in accordance with the section 310.1.2 of the building code that are seventy five feet or more in height. Such photoluminescent, fire resistant decals shall clearly indicate the number of each apartment and be at least four inches wide and five inches high.

§2. This local law shall take effect 120 days after its enactment into law.
