A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to fences.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                     Section 1. Article eighteen of subchapter seven of chapter one of title twenty-seven  of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 27-509.1 to read as follows:

            § 27-509.1 Fence posts. Any fence erected pursuant to this title, in which the posts or other supports are located on only one side of the fence, is to be constructed so that the posts or other supports are not visible from a public street and do not face any adjoining property.

                     §2. Section BC 3111 of the New York city building code, as added by local law number 99 for the year 2005, is amended by adding a new subdivision 3111.2 to read as follows:

                       §3111.2 Fence posts. Any fence erected pursuant to this title, in which the posts or other supports are located on only one side of the fence, is to be constructed so that the posts or other supports are not visible from a public street and do not face any adjoining property.

                       §3. This local law shall take effect immediately upon enactment.
