A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to emergency power in police precincts.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

                     Section 1. Chapter one of title 14 of the administrative code of the City of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-152 to read as follows:

                     § 14-152. Police precinct emergency power. a. By January 1, 2009, all police precincts shall be equipped with an emergency power source sufficient to operate essential equipment for at least forty-eight hours.

                     b. Police precinct emergency power sources shall be inspected and tested monthly, including, when practicable, testing under loss of power conditions.

c.  The police commissioner shall issue a report to the council and the mayor every six months, commencing six months from the effective date of the local law that added this section, that indicates which police precincts are in compliance with this section and the status of those that are not in compliance.

§ 2. This local law shall take effect immediately upon its enactment.
