RESOLUTION NO. 1226

 

Resolution disapproving the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Jamaica Savings Bank, Elmhurst Branch, located at 89-01 Queens Boulevard, Queens, Designation List No. 365, LP-2173 (L.U. No. 565; 20065006 HKQ; N 060008 HKQ).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on July 6, 2005 a copy of its designation dated June 28, 2005 (the "Designation"), of the Jamaica Savings Bank, Elmhurst Branch, located at 89-01 Queens Boulevard, aka 89-01 to 89-11 Queens Boulevard and 89-06 56th Avenue, Community District 4, Borough of Queens, as a historic landmark and Block 1845, Lot 1, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on August 22, 2005, its report on the Designation dated August 10, 2005 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on October 20, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council disapproves the Designation.
