RESOLUTION NO. 1869

 

Resolution affirming the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Society House of the American Society of Civil Engineers, located at 220 West 57th Street (Block 1028, Lot 42), Borough of Manhattan, Designation List No. 408, LP-2297; L.U. No.  1008; 20095265 HKM; N 090254 HKM).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on December 23, 2008 a copy of its designation dated December 16, 2008 (the "Designation"), of the Society House of the American Society of Civil Engineers, located at 220 West 57th Street, Community District 5, Borough of Manhattan, as an historic landmark and Block 1028, Lot 42, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on February 6, 2009 its report on the Designation dated February 4, 2009 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on March 4, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.
