THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK

RESOLUTION NO. 1560

 

Resolution approving the Maritime Lease agreement of Pier A located in Manhattan (Block 16, Lot 1 on the Tax Map), Borough of Manhattan (20095017 PNM; L.U. No. 846).

 

By Council Members Katz and Lappin

 

                           WHEREAS, the Department of Small Business Services filed with the Council on June 27, 2008, pursuant to Sections 1301(2)(f) and (g) of the New York City Charter, a lease agreement between the City of New York Department of Small Business Services and Battery Park City Authority of property formally known as “Pier A” and certain lands under water and an upland area contiguous to Pier A within Block 16, Lot 1 on the Tax Map of the Borough of Manhattan, upon terms and conditions set forth in the Lease Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto (the "Lease"), Community District 1, Borough of Manhattan;

 

                           WHEREAS, the Lease Agreement is subject to review and action by the Council pursuant to Sections 1301(2)(f) and (g) of the New York City Charter;

 

                           WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Lease on July 21, 2008;

 

                     WHEREAS, the Council has considered the relevant environmental issues and the proposed redevelopment which received a negative declaration under SEQRA from the Battery Park City Authority;

 

                           WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use and financial implications and other policy issues relating to the Lease;

 

RESOLVED:

 

                     The Council finds that the action described herein shall have no significant effect on the environment.

 

                           Pursuant to Sections 1301(2)(f) and (g) of the New York City Charter, the Council approves the Lease and upon the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease Agreement by the Department of Small Business Services, a copy of which is attached hereto.
