RESOLUTION NO. 1186

 

Resolution affirming the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Havemeyers and Elder Filter, Pan and Finishing House, later known as the American Sugar Refining Company and the Domino Sugar Refinery, located at 292-314 Kent Avenue (Block 2414, Lot 1, in part), Designation List No. 396, LP-2268 (L.U. No. 633; 20085141 HKK (N 080131 HKK).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on October 5, 2007, a copy of its designation dated September 25, 2007 (the "Designation"), of the Havemeyers and Elder Filter, Pan and Finishing House, later known as the American Sugar Refining Company and the Domino Sugar Refinery, located at 292-314 Kent Avenue, Community District 1, Borough of Brooklyn, as a landmark and Block 2414, Lot 1, in part, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on November 16, 2007 its report on the Designation dated November 14, 2007 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on December 6, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.
