RESOLUTION NO. 768

 

Resolution affirming the designation rescission by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the landmark site of the former New Brighton Village Hall located at 66 Lafayette Avenue (Block 71/Lot 117), Staten Island, Designation List No. 384, LP 0028A (L.U. No. 381; 20075185 HKR; N 070248 HKR).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on December 20, 2006 a copy of its designation rescission dated December 12, 2006 (the "Designation Rescission"), of the former New Brighton Village Hall located at 66 Lafayette Avenue, Community District 1, Borough of Staten Island, as a historic landmark and Block 71/Lot 117, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation Rescission is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on February 14, 2007, its report on the Designation Rescission dated February 7, 2007 (the "Rescission Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation Rescission on March 6, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation Rescission;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation Rescission and the Rescission Report, the Council affirms the Rescission of the Designation.
