THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK

RESOLUTION NO. 1227

 

Resolution affirming an amended designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Greenpoint Historic District, Brooklyn, Amended Designation List No. 367A, LP-2136 (L.U. No. 591; 20065040 HKK; N 830234 (A) HKK).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on August 4, 2005 a copy of its amended designation dated July 26, 2005 (the "Amended Designation"), of the Greenpoint Historic District which was designated on September 14, 1982 and included within the district Tax Map Block 2594, Lot 25 located at 191 Guernsey Street which was not listed in the original designation and was not intended to be part of the historic district, Community District 1, Borough of Brooklyn, pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, on July 26, 2005, the Landmarks Preservation Commission amended the previously approved designation to exclude Tax Map Block 2594, Lot 25 located at 191 Guernsey Street from the historic district;

 

WHEREAS, the Amended Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on October 4, 2005 its report on the Amended Designation dated September 28, 2005 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Amended Designation on October 20, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Amended Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Amended Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Amended Designation.
