RESOLUTION NO. 1146

 

Resolution affirming the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Summit Hotel (now Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel) located at 569-573 Lexington Avenue (a.k.a. 132-166 East 51st Street) (Block 1305, Lot 50), Manhattan, Designation List No. 363, LP-2176 (L.U. No. 535; 20055613 HKM; N 050479 HKM).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on May 23, 2005, copy of its designation dated May 17, 2005 (the "Designation"), of the Summit Hotel (now Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel) located at 569-573 Lexington Avenue (a.k.a. 132-166 East 51st Street), Community District 6, Borough of Manhattan, as a landmark and Block 1305, Lot 50, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on July 19, 2005 its report on the Designation dated July 13, 2005 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on August 15, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.

 

Adopted.
