A Local Law to amend the New York City Charter, in relation to permitting anyone who is otherwise eligible to register and vote, and who is at least sixteen years old, to register to vote in municipal elections.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter forty-six of the New York city charter is hereby amended to add a new section 1057-b to read as follows:
§1057-b Qualifications of voters for municipal elections. A person shall vote at any election for municipal office if he or she is or will be, on the day of such election, sixteen years of age or over, and meets all the other qualifications and requirements to vote set forth in the new york state election law.
§2. This local law shall take effect 90 days after enactment.
