THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK

RESOLUTION NO. 496

 

Resolution modifying the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the H.H. Richardson House located at 45 McClean Avenue, Borough of Staten Island, Designation List No. 352, LP-2141 (L.U. No. 184; 20045502 HKR; N 040397 HKR).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on April 9, 2004 a copy of its designation dated March 30, 2004 (the “Designation”), of the H.H. Richardson House located at 45 McClean Avenue, Borough of Staten Island and designated Staten Island Tax Map Block 3105, Lot 1, in part, consisting of that portion of the lot originally held by Henry Hobson Richardson and his wife, as delineated in deeds filed at the Richmond County Register’s Office, Liber 75, page 573 and Liber 74, page 340 in 1868.  This roughly rectangular portion of the lot includes the land bounded by a line beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 1, extending northwesterly along the western lot line to the intersection with the northern lot line, northeasterly along the northern lot line for 100 feet, southeasterly at said point extending to the southern lot line and parallel to the western lot line, and southwesterly along the southern lot line, to the point of beginning as its Landmark Site;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on May 18, 2004, its report on the Designation dated May 12, 2004 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on July 19, 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020(9) of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council modifies the Designation by changing the landmark site as follows:

Borough of Staten Island Tax Map Block 3105, Lot 1, in part, consisting of land bounded by a line BEGINNING at the corner formed by the intersection of the Northeasterly side of Lily Pond Avenue and the Northwesterly side of McClean Avenue; running thence along the Northeasterly side of Lily Pond Avenue, North 28 degrees, 09’50” West 153.88 feet; running thence North 61 degrees 26’37” East 100.46 feet; running thence South 25 degrees 56’42” East 162.55 feet to a point on the Northwesterly side of McClean Avenue; running thence along the Northwesterly side of McClean Avenue, South 66 degrees 36’41” West 94.49 feet to the point or place of BEGINNING.
