Body By Council Members Lopez and Linares Whereas, The safety of children is of utmost importance; and Whereas, Children in foster care are especially vulnerable and require added protection; and Whereas, It is important to understand and learn from lapses in the protection of the foster children of the City of New York so that they may be better protected in the future; and Whereas, Recently, there have been reports of staff at foster care homes in New York city being arrested for criminal acts; now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the appropriate committee of the Council of the City of New York conduct an oversight hearing regarding Administration for Children's Services protocol for the training, supervision and discipline of staff at foster care homes in New York City.
