A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the minimum required distance between a primary building entrance and a sidewalk cafe

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Subdivision b of section 19-160 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as added by local law number 121 for the year 2023, is amended by adding a new paragraph 3 to read as follows:

3. There shall be a distance of at least 5 feet between a primary building entrance and a sidewalk cafe. For the purposes of this paragraph, a primary building entrance is defined as the building entrance that serves as the primary means of ingress and egress for inhabitants of dwelling units in the building.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
