A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the repair of a leaking tap or service pipe.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                         Section 1. Section 24-316 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new subdivision d to read as follows:

                     d. When it is determined that a sidewalk or street that was taken up in order to make a repair pursuant to subdivision b of this section remains in a defective, unsafe, dangerous or has an obstructed condition, the department shall notify the permit holder who took up such sidewalk or street at the address set forth in the application for such permit of such defect or condition. The permit holder shall have seventy-two hours from receipt of such notice to correct any defect or condition recited in such notice except that, in the case of emergencies as determined by the commissioner, such permit holder shall correct such defect or condition within twenty-four hours after receipt of such notice. Any permit issued for the purpose of taking up and restoring a sidewalk or street in order to make a repair pursuant to subdivision b of this section shall remain in effect for no less than 30 days.

                     §2. This local law shall take effect 60 days after it is enacted into law.
