A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increasing the maximum civil penalty for failure to comply with an order issued by the New York city commission on human rights

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Section 8-124 of the administrative code of the city of New York, as amended by local law number 63 for the year 2018, is amended to read as follows:

§ 8-124 Civil penalties for violating commission orders. Any person who fails to comply with an order issued by the commission pursuant to section 8-115 or section 8-120 shall be liable for a civil penalty of not more than [$50,000] $100,000 and an additional civil penalty of not more than [$100] $200 per day for each day that the violation continues.

§ 2. This local law takes effect 60 days after it becomes law.
