A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to codifying the official flag of the borough of Staten Island

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 2 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 2-107 to read as follows:

§ 2-107 Official flag; borough of Staten Island. a. The following description is hereby adopted as the description of the official flag of the borough of Staten Island. A beige background in the center of which is a circular seal that is blue, green, white, and cream-colored. Within the seal appears an image of a figure of a woman, holding a sword that points downward in her left hand and a shield bearing an image of 2 turtle doves in her right hand, and observing a body of water, within which there is a large ship and a small boat carrying 3 figures of humans. Such image is set against a sky with clouds, stars, and a crescent moon. Encircling the image on a green background are the words “Staten Island” above the image, the words “City of New York” below the image, and the years “1609” and “1898” on either side of the image.

b. This flag may be displayed at reviews, parades, receptions, and other civic functions.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
