A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to securing roll-down gates when raised.

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

Section 1.  Subchapter 29 of chapter 4 of title 27 of the administrative code of the city of New York, is amended by adding thereto a new section 27-4268.1, to follow section 27-4268, to read as follows:

§27-4268.1  Roll-down gates to be secured when raised. When a roll-down gate is in a raised position it shall be secured with a pin by the tenant or occupant of the premises served by the gate.  A pin shall be placed through all gate guide stop holes and locked in place to prevent the gate from being lowered without first unlocking and removing the pin. The failure to do so shall result in a civil penalty of fifty dollars.

§2.  This local law shall take effect thirty days after its enactment into law.
