A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the operation of official vehicles in a public park during hours when it is closed to vehicular traffic.
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Title 18 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to add a new section 18-122.1 to read as follows:
§18-122.1 Official vehicles in parks. a. Definitions. For purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings:
1. "Official vehicle" means any motor vehicle owned and operated by a city agency, including, but not limited to, police department vehicles, fire department vehicles, department of sanitation vehicles, and department of parks and recreation vehicles.
2. "Emergency lights" means any revolving, rotating, flashing, oscillating or constantly moving lights displayed on a vehicle.
b. Operation of official vehicles in parks. Any official vehicle operating in a public park during hours when it is closed to vehicular traffic shall be required to use headlights or emergency lights.
§2. This local law shall take effect immediately.
