Summary: This bill would repeal laws that limit the Department of Correction’s, Department of Probation’s, and the New York City Police Department’s cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”). This bill would also repeal a law that prohibits the City from partnering with ICE to enforce federal immigration law and that prohibits the use of City resources, property, and information obtained on behalf of the City in furtherance of federal immigration enforcement.

A Local Law to repeal sections 9-131, 9-205, 10-178, and 14-154 of the administrative code of the city of New York, relating to persons not to be detained and immigration enforcement

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Sections 9-131, 9-205, 10-178, and 14-154 of the administrative code of the city of New York are REPEALED.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
