A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the alternative exemption for seriously disabled veterans

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Part 1 of subchapter 2 of chapter 2 of title 11 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 11-245.76 to read as follows:

§ 11-245.76 Alternative exemption for veterans; seriously disabled veterans. Pursuant to subdivision eleven of section four hundred fifty-eight-a of the real property tax law, the city hereby provides that the primary residence of any seriously disabled veteran shall be fully exempt from taxation and special district charges, assessments and special ad valorem levies, provided that such veteran meets all other requirements of such section and such veteran has met at least one of the criteria set forth in paragraph (a) of such subdivision and the criterion set forth in paragraph (b) of such subdivision.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately and the commissioner of finance shall notify the state of New York department of veterans’ services within 30 days of such effective date.
