RESOLUTION NO. 576

 

Resolution approving an Amended Urban Development Action Area Project located at 134, 138, 142, 148 and 152 West 143rd Street (Block 2011/Lot 52), Manhattan, pursuant to Section 694 of the General Municipal Law (L.U. No. 289; 20075088 HAM).

 

By Council Members Katz and Garodnick

 

WHEREAS, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development ("HPD") submitted to the Council on September 13, 2006 its request dated August 21, 2006 that the Council take the following actions regarding an Urban Development Action Area Project (the "Project") located at 134, 138, 142, 148 and 152 West 143rd Street (Block 2011/Lot 52), Community District 10, Borough of Manhattan (the "Project"):

 

                     Approve an amendment to the Project pursuant to Section 694 of the General Municipal Law.

 

                           WHEREAS, on October 25, 1984, pursuant to Article 16 of the General Municipal Law, the Board of Estimate approved the Project, the Area Designation, waived the requirements of Section 197-c of the New York City Charter and found the Project was consistent with Section 691 of the New York City Charter (Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached hereto);

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the amendment to the Project on October 3, 2006;

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Project;

 

RESOLVED:

 

The Council approves the Amended Project as an urban development action area project pursuant to Section 694 of the General Municipal Law.

 

The Project shall be disposed of and developed upon the terms and conditions in the Project Summary that HPD has submitted to the Council, a copy of which is attached hereto.
