A Local Law to amend the New York city charter, in relation to creating an office of housing development fund company outreach

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Chapter 61 of the New York city charter is amended by adding a new section 1808 to read as follows:

§ 1808. Office of housing development fund company outreach. a. Definitions. For purposes of this section, the term “housing development fund company” has the same meaning as set forth in section 572 of the private housing finance law.

b. There shall be in the department an office of housing development fund company outreach. The responsibilities of the office of housing development fund company outreach shall include:

1. Advising housing development fund companies on issues relating to the management of housing development fund companies, including building finances, making capital improvements, and building repairs;

2. Serving as a liaison between housing development fund companies and any relevant agencies, including the department, the department of buildings, the department of environmental protection, and the department of finance;

3. Making trainings available to members and managers of housing development fund companies on topics relating to the management of housing development fund companies, such as building finances, property management, administrative obligations, regulatory restrictions, tax abatement, and building repairs; and

4. Maintaining on the department’s website a list of the names, websites, and contact information of any organizations providing low-cost or free services to housing development fund companies within the city.

§ 2. This local law takes effect 180 days after it becomes law.
