A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to signage indicating hazardous conditions at beaches under the jurisdiction of the department of parks and recreation

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                     Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 18 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 18-166 to read as follows:

§ 18-166 Signage at beaches for hazardous conditions. The commissioner shall place signs along the perimeter of any section of a beach under the jurisdiction of the department that is closed due to: hazardous weather conditions; the lack of sufficient staff; or the safety of the public. Such signs shall clearly indicate the reason for such closure and that swimming is prohibited in the waters directly adjoining such section for the duration of the closure.

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
