RESOLUTION NO. 1229

 

Resolution affirming an amended designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the Church of the Transfiguration, located at 11-13 East 29th Street, Manhattan, Amended Designation List No. 367A, LP-2133 (L.U. No. 593; 20065038 HKM; N 060072 HKM).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on August 4, 2005 a copy of its amended designation dated July 26, 2005 (the "Amended Designation"), of the Church of the Transfiguration, located at 11-13 East 29th Street, Community District 5, Borough of Manhattan, as a historic landmark and Block 859, Lots 6 and 12 in part, consisting of the land underneath the chancel, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, on July 26, 2005, the Landmarks Preservation Commission amended the landmark site to include Tax Map Block 859, Lot 12 in part, consisting on the land underneath the Chancel, to expand the landmark site;

 

WHEREAS, the Amended Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on October 3, 2005 its report on the Amended Designation dated September 28, 2005 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Amended Designation on October 20, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Amended Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Amended Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Amended Designation.
