Summary: This bill would require an office designated by the mayor to establish and maintain a website displaying fully and partially remote job opportunities. The website would display remote city government jobs. The website would also allow private employers to post remote jobs, provided that the office implements a process to verify that the private employers and job opportunities are legitimate. The bill would also require the office to conduct an outreach program to increase awareness of the website, including targeted outreach to parents of young children. A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the creation of a website that displays remote job opportunities

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Chapter 8 of title 23 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 23-808 to read as follows:

§ 23-808 Remote job opportunities website. a. Definitions. As used in this section, the following terms have the following meanings:

Office. The term “office” means an office or agency designated by the mayor.

Remote job. The term “remote job” means a fully or partially remote job which does not require an employee to report to a central worksite on all workdays.

b. Website. The office shall establish and maintain a website that displays remote job opportunities. The website shall display remote city government job opportunities. The website shall also allow private employers to post remote job opportunities, provided that the office shall implement a process to verify that such job opportunities are legitimate before they are displayed on the website.

c. Outreach. The office shall conduct an outreach program to increase awareness of the website created pursuant to subdivision b of this section. The program shall include outreach targeted to reach parents of young children.

§ 2.  This local law takes effect 90 days after it becomes law.
